Pineapple Pinata

  • A Large cardboard box
  • Yellow crepe paper
  • Scissors
  • Green paint and paintbrush (or if you have some green craft card or paper you can skip that)
  • Tape of some kind - i have masking tape
  • A hot glue gun (I forgot to put it in the picture haha)

STEP 1
From each side of your box cut out 2x shapes as pictures (mine are about 35cm high and 27cm at the widest part, the top flat piece is slightly smaller than the bottom) dont worry too much about measuring, you can just make it the size you like :)
these will be the front and back of your pinata,

STEP 2
Cut off the flap from one of the long sides of your box and then cut it in half length ways so you have 2x long strips of cardboard, these will become the sides of your pinata.
From another piece of cardboard, cut out a small rectangle that is as wide as your pinata sides and as long as the bottom side of one of your pinata front or back piece, this will be the bottom of your pinata

This is what you should have, now... lets put this thing together

STEP 3

Using your tape stick each piece together, I attached the bottom to the front and then added the side pieces and finally i put the back piece on.
Once your pieces are all stuck together, you should have something that looks like this

You could cut the little flaps at the top off if you wanted but i left mine and folded them down to make a little lid

STEP 4
Uing some of your leftover cardboard cut some spiky bits in different lengths to use as the pineapple leaves, paint them all green on both sides
Alternatively, if you have some green card or paper just use it to cut your pieces and save yourself from painting all those bits (i only used the cardboard and paint because thats all I had)

STEP 5
Using your glue gun begin to stick the leaves to the top part of the pinata (i had 11 pieces so i ended up with 5 on one side and 6 on the other

STEP 6
Take your crepe paper and cut a section off the end, turn it on  its side and cut slits into your pieces, be sure not to cut all the way through the top
stick your feathered streamer of crepe paper around the pinata moving it slightly higher each time you wrap it around
continue until you reach the top

STEP 7
Continue the crepe paper up the lid flaps
I also used the glue gun just to stick the last layer of crepe paper across the pineapple leaves so you couldn't see any tape

STEP 8
Poke a hole on both sides of your pinata just below the fold of the lid flap, thread a piece of ribbon or string through your hols and your pinata is ready to fill with some lollies and hang
